Frequently Asked Questions
Repairs
Yes. If the garment is new, it’s best to wash it before the fitting, since some materials can shrink by up to 5%. For hygiene reasons and to protect the machines, items must be washed/cleaned before being brought in for repair.
At the Atelier we have standard-length zippers in common colours available for jeans and dresses. If your garment needs a specific colour or length, you’re welcome to source it yourself from shops in the city or online. Sourcing and ordering a zipper on your behalf carries an extra fee on top of the repair price (70 kr). Some shops in Copenhagen you can check out: Stitches, Byensycenter, Selfmade, Stof 2000, Handler.
Prices are based on time, and the time required for a given job varies depending on the garment being made and the materials used. Some fabrics are simply harder to work with, requiring more steps and more precision to achieve a quality result.

Yes — the type of shoe can affect the style, and therefore the length, of the trousers. It’s always necessary to consider the full outfit before deciding on the final length of your garment.
If, after shortening and agreeing on the length, the length turns out to be wrong, do I have to pay?
Yes. The customer is responsible for the final choice of length, so if the work needs to be redone, the customer will be charged again for the job.
Yes, we’d suggest it — bringing a shirt to wear under the blazer being fitted lets us check the proportion between the two sleeve lengths.
Yes, so that we can be sure the alteration is done correctly.

No prior experience is needed — the course is designed for complete beginners and will guide you through the basics step by step.
